Organizing work
Organize tasks with boards and filters
Switch between List and Board, group tasks by status, narrow your work with filters, and find tasks hidden by display settings.
Last updated
Open a team’s Tasks page. A few existing tasks make it easier to see how the different views work.
See work on a board
- Select Board at the top of the team’s Tasks page. Select List whenever you want to return to rows.
- Open Display. Under Grouping, choose Status to arrange the board around your team’s workflow.
- Drag a task card into another status column to update its status. Open a card when you need to read its details.
Choose what the view shows
Display controls how tasks are arranged. Grouping includes Status, Assignee, Priority, Project, Sprint, Label, Target status, and None. Ordering includes Priority, Last updated, Last created, Manual, Title, and Due date.
- Use Visible properties to choose details such as labels, due dates, estimates, and assignees.
- Under Sub-tasks, choose Show inline, Show nested, or Hidden.
- Under Completed tasks, choose Show, Hide, or Auto (hide after 2 weeks).
Find the work you need
- Choose Filter on the Tasks page.
- Select a property, such as Assignee, Priority, Label, Project, or Due date.
- Select the people, values, or dates to include. For example, choose your name under Assignee and This week under Due date to see your work due this week.
- Use the filter chips below the toolbar to revisit a selection. Remove an individual chip to stop filtering by that property. With multiple filters, Clear all removes them together.
How multiple filters work
Filters on different properties narrow the result together. A task must satisfy each active property filter. Within a property, most selections match any of the selected values, with one important exception: labels.
| Your selection | Tasks that match |
|---|---|
| Assignee: Alex and Sam | Tasks assigned to Alex, Sam, or both. |
| Priority: High and Urgent | Tasks with either High or Urgent priority. |
| Label: Campaign and Design | Tasks carrying both labels. Additional labels are allowed. |
| Assignee: Alex; Priority: High | Tasks assigned to Alex that also have High priority. |
If a task seems to be missing
Once you have a useful combination of filters, grouping, and ordering, save it as a named view so you can return to it.
- Check that you are in the correct team’s Tasks page.
- Remove active filters, especially labels that require several matches.
- Open Display and set Completed tasks to Show.
- Check whether Sub-tasks is set to Hidden if you are looking for a sub-task.
